Bird Road With Shad

We stopped here to lock our hubs.

We stopped here to lock our hubs.   Not long after this we came to a side trail and Shad had to back up for me to make a running start and backed over a fern mound - stuck!   This side was straddling a mound - I had to dig some before Shad could open his door.   This is the other side.   I had to pull him out.   This is what it looked like - his left rear tire was where the rock is. We had to do a lot of digging.   Doesn't Shad look relieved?   We made it up the muddy hill and stopped to look back.   You can see the puddle in the background.   I got pretty well stuck in a gully and had to jack and put some rocks and logs under the tires.   Right at the end I tried to go over this berm.   So we had to break out the strap and shackles again.

After getting turned away at the gunnery range (it wasn't on my topo), Shad and I ended up on "Bird Road". It was a pretty muddy day and we each managed to get stuck more than once. I had never gotten high-centered like that before.
