Testing the 'Granny Frightener'

We stopped to lock in and take some shots. Side view with my truck for comparison.   A side view of the 'Granny Frightener'.   Rear quarter view showing the temporary bed and discount shackles.   Rear quarter other side. It almost looks like someone tagged it with red paint.   It's hard to believe they're the same basic model.   A closeup of the rear. I wanted to see where the frame sits compared to mine.   Mine for comparison. My tires are one inch shorter and balding but you can see that his sits an inch or two higher.   The custom bumper, lights and shackles. I think rock rollers on the bottom of the shackles would be a good addition.   The two for comparison. My rear is stock height plus 32 inch tires.   We went to a place with a nice little off-camber drop to test the flex.   Just then a biker came by and seemed to enjoy watching the spectacle.   He didn't get as much down-travel as I had expected. He did get his rear tire pretty high in the air.   He looks a little worried. I was yelling 'Turn right, don't turn left!!!'   Of course, I had to do it for comparison. Seems like I get an inch or two less of downtravel.   This is what it looked like from the front.   And down the ditch...   A meeting of the Hardbodies...

Shad and I went out to some local trails for a short run to check out his 1986 Hardbody (which I call the "Granny Frightener") with the bobbed frame rails, no bed and 33's. It did quite well and we got to compare it to my more stock-height (torsion crank only) Hardbody. We went down some rocky/muddy trails and then gave it a flex test on a steep incline.
